Terms of Use
Last updated: 12 September 2026. These terms govern your use of thepicklog.com. They sit alongside the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy, which are part of these terms by reference.
The short version. ThePickLog is a public research project. Everything on it is educational information about how strategies are tested — not advice, not a recommendation, and not a service that manages, executes or holds anything for you. Every performance figure we publish is simulated. You use the site at your own risk, and any decision you make with it is yours alone.
1. Who you are agreeing with
ThePickLog is operated by AMD Ventures, LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“ThePickLog”, “we”, “us”). By accessing the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. You confirm you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement, and that your use of the site is lawful where you are.
2. What the site is
The site publishes quantitative hypotheses about the stock market, the rules used to test them, the resulting graded record, and write-ups of what went wrong. Its purpose is to let a stranger verify our claims. It is a research and educational publication and nothing more.
We do not execute orders, place trades, route to any broker, hold custody of any funds or securities, manage any account, or connect to any brokerage for execution. The Compete simulation is paper trading with notional money only; no real capital is involved and no position shown anywhere on this site exists.
The Disclaimer sets out in full what this is not — it is not investment advice and we are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial planner. Read it; it is the operative statement on that point and these terms do not repeat it.
3. Hypothetical and simulated performance
Hypothetical performance disclosure. Hypothetical or simulated performance results have inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Because the trades have not actually been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown.
Applies to everything. Every number on this site — the track record, the screener output, the experiment results, the leaderboard, the calculator and the paper-trading simulation — is hypothetical in this sense.
Two further limits we hold ourselves to and want stated in the terms, not just the methodology pages. First, our figures are computed from public price data and do not fully reflect commissions, spreads, slippage, borrowing costs, taxes, partial fills, or the liquidity limits of thinly traded stocks — each of which reduces what a real account would have earned. Second, where a result was produced partly with hindsight, or where the sample is too small to distinguish from chance, we say so on the page that shows it. If a page does not say so, the result is still hypothetical.
4. What the published record does and does not claim
We claim that each pick was logged at the stated time, graded by an automated job on a fixed schedule, and left unedited in an append-only log whose hash chain is published. We claim you can re-derive our figures from the raw files we publish.
We do not claim the strategies work. Several have been tested and refuted, and we publish those verdicts. Nothing in the record is a representation that any strategy is profitable, will continue to behave as it has, or is suitable for you.
We correct errors in public rather than quietly. Where a correction changes a headline number, the prior number and the reason for the change stay on the site. A figure you saw earlier may therefore have been superseded; the current page governs.
5. No advisory or fiduciary relationship
Using the site, subscribing to updates, or entering the paper-trading simulation creates no advisory, fiduciary, agency or professional relationship between you and us. We do not know your circumstances, objectives or risk tolerance, and nothing on the site is tailored to them. You are solely responsible for evaluating the merits and risks of anything you do. Consult a licensed professional before making an investment decision.
6. Registration status
Neither ThePickLog nor AMD Ventures, LLC is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, FINRA, the National Futures Association, or any state securities regulator as an investment adviser, broker-dealer, commodity trading advisor, associated person or fiduciary. No content on the site should be read as being offered by a registered or licensed professional.
7. Email updates and the simulation
You may give us an email address to receive verdicts and updates. Confirmation is double opt-in and every message carries an unsubscribe link that works. What we store and why is in the Privacy Policy.
If you take part in the paper-trading simulation, you are responsible for anything submitted from your entry. We may reset, correct, exclude or remove entries where a result is produced by a data error, a defect in our own code, or an attempt to game the scoring — and where we do, we will say so publicly rather than silently adjust a leaderboard.
There is currently no paid subscription. If we ever offer one, its price, billing cycle, renewal and cancellation terms will be published before anyone can be charged, and these terms will be updated first.
8. Acceptable use
You may read, quote, cite and link to anything here. You may download and re-analyse the published data files; that is what they are for. You may not misrepresent our results as your own or as an endorsement of anything, present our figures without the qualifications attached to them on the page they came from, attempt to interfere with the site or its automated jobs, or use the site to break the law.
9. Our content, your use of it, and the open standard
The site’s text, design, code and compiled datasets are owned by AMD Ventures, LLC or its licensors. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use them as described above.
Two deliberate exceptions. The Verified-by-ThePickLog open standard is published so that anyone may adopt it — that is its point. And the raw published data files exist to be independently re-derived and checked. Neither exception is a transfer of ownership or a licence to imply we endorse your use, and both are conditional on citing the source.
10. Third-party data and links
Market and reference data come from third-party providers and public filings. It may be delayed, incomplete, revised or wrong, and we do not warrant it. Where a provider requires attribution, it is given on the Trust & Data page. Links to other sites are for reference; we do not control or endorse them.
11. Availability
The site is provided as-is. Automated jobs can fail, and when they do the record has a gap that we publish rather than backfill. We do not guarantee that the site will be available, current, or free of errors, and we may change or discontinue any part of it.
12. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither AMD Ventures, LLC nor its members, officers or contractors will be liable for any trading or investment loss, or for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, arising out of your use of the site — including any decision made in reliance on anything published here. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case this section applies to the maximum extent they permit.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AMD Ventures, LLC and its members, officers and contractors from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of anyone else’s rights.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Broward County, Florida for any dispute arising out of them.
Before starting any proceeding, please contact us and give us thirty days to resolve the matter. Most things can be fixed by telling us what is wrong.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version. For material changes we will note the change on the site and, if you are subscribed, by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
17. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision is held unenforceable, it is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force. These terms, with the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site.
